The peril of Hamid Courts, a presentation by Dr Anton van Dellen

Dr Anton van Dellen gave a presentation at BPP University about the threshold and operation of Hamid Courts which conduct investigations into immigration solicitors who are alleged to have engaged in professional misconduct.  The presentation covered the origin of Hamid Courts and the extent to which their jurisdiction had expanded over time.  The key cases in the area were covered, with the relevant legal principles explained.  Dr Anton van Dellen represented solicitors in two of the cases discussed: K v SSHD [2015] EWCA Civ 913 and I v SRA [2018] EWHC 957.
