Dr Anton van Dellen was instructed by Ricky Waumsley, the partner of Daniel Whitworth, in the inquests which investigated four linked murders in Barking.
Following the inquest, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has said that it is close to beginning a new investigation into Police Officers who were involved in investigating the murders. The inquest jury held in December 2021 that ‘fundamental failures’ to investigate the killer ‘probably’ allowed him to kill Daniel. The IOPC has identified ‘compelling reasons’ for reopening the case, including ‘both potential significant new information and potential material flaws’ in the original investigation by its predecessor, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
